Privacy · we keep very little

RobotRegistry is an independent site run from Sydney, Australia. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking scripts, and nothing about you is sold, rented or shared for marketing. This page lists everything the site keeps about people, why, and for how long.

What we keepNothing else is collected
Newsletter

What · Your email address, when you signed up, confirmed and left, and the random codes in your confirm and unsubscribe links.

Why · To send the weekly changelog you asked for, and to honour an unsubscribe.

How long · Until you ask us to delete it. After an unsubscribe the address stays marked as unsubscribed, so it is never mailed again.

Error reports

What · What you report, the source link you give, and your email address if you add one.

Why · To check the report and, if you left an email, to reply.

How long · Kept with the report. Ask and we remove your email from it.

Votes

What · A random ID in a cookie called rr_vid, and your yes or no on each robot.

Why · So each browser counts once. The ID is not linked to your name or email.

How long · The cookie lasts a year. Votes stay while the robot is listed.

Sign-in

What · For invited reviewers and manufacturer contacts only: email, name, role, and a sign-in cookie called rr_session.

Why · To let you review claims or respond for your company.

How long · The cookie lasts 30 days. The account lasts while your access does.

Mail to us

What · Whatever you write to contact@robotregistry.net or our other addresses.

Why · To answer you.

How long · In our inbox until deleted.

IP address

What · Your IP address, held in the server's memory when you sign up for the newsletter.

Why · To stop one computer flooding the sign-up form.

How long · Never written to our database. It only counts for an hour and is gone whenever the server restarts. Our host keeps its own short request logs.

CookiesNo banner, because none of them track you

The site sets at most two cookies, and only when you use the feature that needs them: rr_vid when you vote, and rr_session when an invited reviewer signs in. There are no advertising, analytics or third-party cookies.

Who handles it for us

We use a few services to run the site: hosting, a database in Sydney, a mail-sending service and mail forwarding. Some of them are overseas, mainly in the United States and Japan, so your data may be stored or processed outside Australia. They only handle it to run the site for us.

Your choices

Every newsletter mail has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and most mail apps show their own unsubscribe button too.

To see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, write to contact@robotregistry.net. We answer within 30 days, usually much sooner.

We keep your newsletter address because you asked for the newsletter, and we keep votes, reports and short-lived IP records because the site needs them to work fairly. If you live in the EU or the UK you also have the rights the GDPR gives you, including to object and to complain to your data protection authority. In Australia you can complain to the OAIC.
